Wrexham fans think Ryan Reynolds time travels as he ‘appears’ in 1878 team pic

Wrexham fans are convinced time travel is real after they ‘spotted’ Ryan Reynolds in a squad photo from 1877.

Reynolds and fellow Hollywood A-lister Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham in 2021, and they led the Welsh side back into the Football League last season. Wrexham were brilliant as they swept away the competition to top the National League.

However, fans are convinced Reynolds is secretly a time traveller, when, just after he starred in a film about time travel, Wrexham fans spotted a player with an uncanny resemblance to the actor. Wrexham had tweeted a squad photo of the Welsh side that played at the Racecourse in 1877.

“OMG, the previous life of Ryan Reynolds… he also looks like Damien Lewis,” one fan joked. While a second added: “Ryan Reynolds the ultimate time traveller!”

“Not only one of the oldest clubs in the world you got the oldest owner of the world. @VancityReynolds you’re ageing well! Time travel has done wonderful things for you,” a third joked. And a fourth added: “I mean, you’ve got to admit this is utterly mental!”

“We can confirm that’s not @VanCityReynolds on the front row,” Wrexham clarified. However, Ryan Reynolds himself replied: “You sure? As mentioned, I have an extensive nighttime skincare routine.”

Wrexham are currently preparing for their first season in the Football League since 2008 – and they’ve wasted no time in looking for potential marquee signings.

Gareth Bale was joked about, however, the former Real Madrid star seems to be happily retired. A more realistic name is Nick Powell, who was once compared to Paul Scholes by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Fergie plucked Powell from League Two, but after he failed to impress at Manchester United, Powell plummeted back down the Football League.
