Arsenal sign Kai Havertz after agreeing Declan Rice fee with fans in dreamland

Arsenal fans are in ‘dreamland’ after landing Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and agreeing a deal with West Ham for their superstar Declan Rice.

Havertz has moved to north London to the tune of £65million – and he will wear the No.29 shirt next season. Mikel Arteta has landed his first target of the summer, saying: “Kai is a player of top quality. He has great versatility and is an intelligent player.

“He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play.” And Arsenal fans can barley contain their excitement, with some even claiming they were in dreamland.

“I can’t believe this! Havertz and soon Rice! I’m in dreamland,” one fan exclaimed on social media. While a second added: “Welcome to the biggest club in the world, Kai!”

“If you would’ve told me this last year my head would’ve been on Jupiter. Have to get behind him now,” a third said. And another added: “Rice gets confirmed he’s coming and they announce Havertz. When they confirm Timber, Rice will be announced!”

Havertz himself said: “It’s super exciting for me to be joining this amazing club and to be part of the Arsenal family. This club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of things!”

Also on Wednesday evening, the Gunners finally agreed a deal with West Ham for Rice.

Arteta’s side had seen two bids rejected by the Hammers – but it proved to be third time lucky. However, Arsenal had to table a British record fee of £105million to convince the Hammers to part ways with their star – who recently led them to European glory.

Manchester City had also been interested in the Englishman, but pulled out of the race for his signature when their opening bid was rejected.
