‘Prince William tried to ban me from royal events’ claims Meghan’s author pal

A friend of the Duchess of Sussex has claimed he was nearly banned from attending royal events by Prince William.

Royal biographer and friend of Meghan Markle, Omid Scobie, claims those who “dared challenge this system” of accessing members of the Firm were “punished” for what they wrote about the family in various biographies.

Revelations made by the biographer supposedly led to him being in the Prince of Wales’ bad books, with Mr Scobie alleging he was “removed from royal email lists” after airing stories the family did not like.

Scobie, writing for The I, claimed: “Those who have dared challenge this system have certainly paid the price.

“I’ve known journalists in the past who have been removed from royal email lists or media briefings after publishing stories or books that the Firm didn’t like.

“For me – who also spent years dancing the palace dance for access and perks – my first major ‘punishment’ came after the release of Finding Freedom, a book that told the inside story of the Sussexes’ royal departure.”

The royal expert had written up certain details which left the family furious, Mr Scobie claimed.

He added: “Sources told me that Prince William was so incensed by my revelations that his Kensington Palace team had given negative information to favoured journalists about his brother that he wanted me barred from his engagements.”

The Daily Star has contacted Prince William’s representatives for comment.

It is not the only time royal revelations have seemingly caused a stir, and some royals are reportedly worried “hell will break loose” should Meghan’s rumoured autobiography release

A royal insider has claimed if Meghan reveals which royal allegedly questioned the skin colour of Archie prior to his birth, it could be carnage.

The unnamed insider, speaking to The Telegraph, said: “All hell will break loose again. There’s not a lot of trust left to allow the family to maintain a good and open relationship.

“How do you speak openly without it ending up in volume two?”
