Al Fayed, passed away at the age of 94, and was the owner of Fulham for 16 years. 

Al Fayed successfully guided the club to higher positions, culminating in their first-ever entry into the Premier League within a four-year period under his leadership.

In a statement released by Fulham FC, his family said: ‘Mrs Mohamed Al Fayed, her children and grandchildren wish to confirm that her beloved husband, their father and their grandfather, Mohamed, has passed away peacefully of old age on Wednesday August 30, 2023.

The individual experienced a lengthy and satisfying period of retirement, being in the company of their dear ones. During this time, the family has requested that their privacy be honored.

In 1997, he acquired the club and later transferred ownership to his successor Shahid Khan in 2013.

The individual from Egypt possessed Fulham FC for a duration of 16 years and was not merely a symbolic leader, but a fervent advocate of the team and a crucial component of its past.

During his time in charge, Fulham experienced significant growth in English football, and the team achieved exceptional accomplishments under his ownership.

A sincere message on the club’s website featured a statement from his replacement, Shahid Khan: ‘His impact will be commemorated for our advancement to the Premier League, a Europa League Final, and remarkable performances by both players and teams.

I have always had a great time with Mr Al Fayed, who was a wise, vibrant, and dedicated individual to Fulham. I am eternally thankful for his confidence in me to take over as Chairman in 2013.

Fulham will be playing against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. As a sign of respect, they wore black armbands and displayed a banner in the away section.
