During his appearance on the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show, Mr Sunak was asked about a word cloud that indicated the public’s perception of him being wealthy.

However, the Prime Minister highlighted his choices regarding the relaxation of Net Zero measures, such as the transition from gas boilers and petrol and diesel cars. He considered these decisions as indications of his awareness of the financial difficulties experienced by the British population.

He stated that his decision was driven by his desire to alleviate the pressure on families.

Once more, I face considerable criticism from individuals who have the means to easily replace their boiler, invest in highly costly energy-efficient enhancements for their rural home that is not connected to the gas supply, or replace their vehicle earlier than required.

‘It might be fine for them to do all those things. I don’t think it’s right, I don’t think it’s necessary.

‘I made the decision I did because I aim to help families save various amounts ranging from £5,000 to £20,000.’
