Pete Buttigieg Has The Perfect Response To Trump’s Comments About Wounded Vets

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has expressed his opinion on the surprising comments made by Donald Trump regarding veterans and injured service members.

Buttigieg, an Afghanistan War veteran, said Thursday on MSNBC that it was “unthinkable” for a former president to express “that kind of disrespect for somebody who puts their life on the line.”

In a recent article about Army Gen. Mark Milley in The Atlantic, it was mentioned that Trump questioned the former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff about his decision to invite a wounded Army captain to perform “God Bless America” at an event.

In 2019, Trump allegedly questioned why Milley brought individuals of that nature to the location, expressing that nobody desired to witness the wounded. He instructed Milley to refrain from inviting the man to any upcoming public events.

Buttigieg expressed his opinion on the matter during his appearance on MSNBC.

In my perspective, the crux of the matter is this: If being in the presence of an injured, wounded, or disabled veteran makes you uneasy, it should prompt you to aspire to be more like them.

It should make you feel uneasy and prompt you to question if you have made sufficient efforts to ensure that your life, community, and country are deserving of the sacrifices made to protect its safety.

I believe this is a matter that should unite all of us, regardless of our political beliefs.

According to a 2020 report by The Atlantic, Trump referred to Americans who lost their lives in war as “losers” and “suckers.”

On Monday, John Kelly, who used to be Trump’s chief of staff, confirmed to CNN that Trump did make several negative comments about veterans and showed disrespect towards those who were injured or passed away.

In an interview this week, John Bolton, who served as Trump’s former national security adviser, expressed his certainty about the truthfulness of John Kelly’s statements.

Trump’s campaign has rejected Kelly’s comments, telling multiple media outlets that “John Kelly has totally clowned himself with these debunked stories he’s made up because he didn’t serve his President well while working as Chief of Staff.”
