Chris Basham sustains a severe leg injury while playing against Fulham.

Chris Basham is set to be ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a nasty ankle injury against Fulham during Sheffield United’s defeat at Craven Cottage.

During the first half, Basham extended his leg to halt the ball’s movement but unfortunately twisted his ankle upon landing.

United’s medical team and Fulham’s medical team both rushed onto the pitch to assist Basham after play was halted. The stoppage lasted for 13 minutes before Basham was carried off on a stretcher and transported to St George’s Hospital in London.

Basham, who was acting as captain in the absence of John Egan, received a standing ovation from the entire crowd. The supporters chanted “There’s only one Chris Basham” while he was being attended to by medical professionals. Despite the situation, Basham was able to give a thumbs up before being transported to the ambulance.

Chris Basham, the captain of Sheffield United, sustained a horrifying injury to his lower leg during the match against Fulham.

The injured defender was surrounded by physios and medics, causing visible shock among the players.

“He is currently in the hospital, receiving care from doctors and medics. Witnessing such a situation is truly undesirable. It is widely known how well-liked he is, and everyone will have him in their thoughts,” Heckingbottom expressed.

Fulham manager Marco Silva expressed his sympathy for Chris Basham, who suffered a severe injury. Both Silva and the football club send their well wishes for a speedy recovery.

Basham was transported to an ambulance and accompanied to the hospital, where he will undergo medical examinations.
