Rishi Sunak is scheduled to travel to Israel for a two-day visit to engage in discussions.

Rishi Sunak plans to travel to Israel tomorrow morning, urging all parties involved to prevent any additional escalation of the conflict to ensure safety.

The Prime Minister is embarking on a two-day journey to the region, during which he will express support for Israel and advocate for the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

Tomorrow, Mr Sunak is anticipated to engage in discussions with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and president Isaac Herzog in Tel Aviv.

Downing Street announced that he will subsequently proceed to several other regional capitals to engage in discussions with Arab leaders. He is expected to return to the UK on Friday.

No 10 said his exact schedule was still being finalised tonight, but Whitehall sources suggested he hopes to visit Egypt and Jordan.

According to a government official, the Prime Minister will express significant backing for Israel while also encouraging all parties involved to take measures in order to avoid the conflict escalating into a regional war.

Mr Sunak said today: ‘Every civilian death is a tragedy. And too many lives have been lost following Hamas’s horrific act of terror. The attack on al-Ahli Hospital should be a watershed moment for leaders in the region and across the world to come together to avoid further dangerous escalation of conflict. I will ensure the UK is at the forefront of this effort.’

Downing Street reported that a minimum of seven British citizens lost their lives in the abhorrent attacks by Hamas, which sparked the current crisis. Additionally, there are nine individuals who are unaccounted for, with suspicions that some may be held captive by Hamas in Gaza.

Yesterday, Mr Sunak had a private discussion with the family of a British hostage victim before embarking on his journey.

Britain is pushing for the opening of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt in order to get aid in and allow UK nationals to leave. The UK announced a £10 million aid package for Gaza this week but there is currently no way of getting humanitarian support into the war zone.

Just a day after Arab leaders canceled talks with Joe Biden in response to the hospital explosion, Mr. Sunak will be arriving in Israel.

The President of the United States had discussions with Mr. Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, however, the Jordanians decided to cancel a scheduled trip to Jordan due to what they referred to as ‘a significant disaster and a horrific act of war’.

Citing US intelligence, Mr. Biden attributed the responsibility for the attack to Palestinian terrorists.

Mr. Sunak informed Members of Parliament that the UK is currently evaluating the evidence. He also expressed his disapproval of the BBC and other entities for hastily concluding that an Israeli air strike was responsible.

In a twin-track approach, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will also fly to the region tomorrow for a flurry of diplomatic talks

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will also travel to the region tomorrow for a series of diplomatic discussions, following a twin-track approach.

The media coverage, including that from the BBC, has angered ministers as they were quick to blame Israel for the hospital attack. A government source criticized this reporting as “shoddy” and unhelpful.

In private, officials in Whitehall anticipate that British intelligence analysts will reach a similar conclusion to their American counterparts in the upcoming days.

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will also travel to the region tomorrow for a series of diplomatic discussions, adopting a twin-track approach.

Mr Cleverly, who visited Israel last week, will meet senior figures in Egypt, Turkey and Qatar over the next three days.

According to a source, the purpose of the trip was to support regional stability, release hostages, and facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza. Mr. Cleverly emphasized that involving additional parties in this conflict would not benefit anyone, including Israelis, Palestinians, or the broader Middle East.

“I will be convening with representatives from influential states in the area to advocate for peace and stability, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and collaborate on efforts to secure the freedom of hostages.”

Given Qatar’s hosting of senior figures in the political leadership of Hamas, the visit is expected to attract attention.

However, it is reported that the Gulf state is actively involved in attempting to secure the freedom of nearly 200 individuals who were taken hostage by Hamas during their attack on Israel in recent weeks. On Tuesday, Mr. Sunak had a phone conversation with the Emir of Qatar as part of the ongoing efforts to assist British families in bringing their loved ones back home.

Due to the escalating situation in the area, there is a heightened level of security for the visit. On Tuesday night, German chancellor Olaf Scholz’s aircraft had to be evacuated on the runway at Ben Gurion airport after being targeted by rocket attacks.
