Sandro Tonali will not play once more this season after struggling 10-month betting ban

Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali will not play once more within the 2023/24 marketing campaign after being handed a 10-month ban for betting offences.

The Magpies signed Tonali for £55million this previous summer time from AC Milan, unaware that the Italian midfielder was coping with a playing drawback. However, earlier this month, it was introduced that each Tonali, and Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo have been being investigated for betting offences while taking part in in Italy.

Zaniolo and Tonali had been set to tackle England while away on worldwide responsibility, however have been pressured to drag out of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad once they had their digital units seized by police, in addition to being questioned. And it has now been introduced Tonali might be handed a 10-month ban from soccer.

“The FIGC prosecutor and Tonali have reached an agreement which I have already approved,” the president of the Italian football federation (FIGC), Gabriele Gravina said. “The settlement consists of a 10-month ban plus eight months of rehab actions and at the very least 16 public appearances.”

While Tonali did not bet on his new Premier League team, he has admitted to placing bets on matches he was involved in playing for Milan. The Italian international, who will also miss Euro 2024 should Italy qualify to defend their European crown, was potentially facing a three-year ban. However, negotiations over a plea bargain deal over the course of the last week have seen Tonali handed a 10-month ban.

Additionally, it has also been reported the Newcastle ace will also have to give up £11million in wages too as a result of the betting breaches.
