A New Mexico police cadet has been killed by her husband in a murder-suicide at their dwelling – leaving their eight-year-old son orphaned on Thanksgiving.

Taylor Hagan, 32, was in her residence on the Olympus Encantada Apartments in northeast Albuquerque Tuesday afternoon.

At round 4 p.m., investigators consider her husband Briton Hagan, 41, shot her useless. Briton is then believed to have turned the gun on himself. 

Taylor was nonetheless within the academy of the Albuquerque Police Department when she was murdered.

Maria Cahuenas, Director of New Mexico’s Domestic Violence Resource Center, mentioned the tragedy is a reminder of what may be carried out throughout this time of 12 months to stop such incidents.
