A professional-Palestine protestor has been left in important situation after setting themselves on hearth exterior the Israeli consulate in Atlanta. 

The metropolis’s police chief, Darin Schierbaum, described the incident as an ‘excessive act of political protest’, and mentioned a Palestinian flag was recovered from the scene.

It comes simply hours after Israel’s army wing IDF introduced the re-launch of its offensive towards Hamas in Gaza after a six-day ceasefire expired. 

At least two folks had been injured within the act of self-immolation, together with a safety guard who tried to intervene. 

The safety guard’s situation is unclear, and officers mentioned the protestor is in important situation.

The protestor has not been recognized and no pro-Palestinian teams have taken accountability for the demonstration.

On social media, a singed backpack and burned objects had been seen exterior of the constructing.  

Everyone contained in the constructing is protected, and Schierbaum mentioned that officers haven’t decided any connection to terrorism.

‘We don’t see any risk right here,’ he mentioned. ‘We imagine it was an act of utmost political protest that occurred.’  

Anat Sultan-Dadon, consul normal of Israel to the southeastern U.S., mentioned in an announcement: ‘We are saddened to study of the self-immolation on the entrance to the workplace constructing.

‘It is tragic to see the hate and incitement towards Israel expressed in such a horrific means. 

The sanctity of life is our highest worth. Our prayers are with the safety officer who was injured whereas attempting to stop this tragic act.
