Some followers agreed with Carragher, with one replying: “He would probably do a better job to be fair [laughing face emojis].” However, a Liverpool fan, clearly revelling in United’s struggles, quipped: “Nah, keep this tactical genius in charge.”
Another warned: “ETH is useless, but Gary would condemn Utd to relegation.” A fourth joked to Carragher: “You’ll try anything to get him off of presenting with you.”
Neville has been forthright about United’s issues on and off the pitch. Speaking after the West Ham defeat on his Sky Sports podcast, he mentioned: “It didn’t surprise me at all. I didn’t get carried away when they drew at Liverpool last week.
“What we see under this team, under any manager, is pretty much the same, you can’t trust them. They will let you down when they give you a glimmer of hope.”
