Rain ‘will flip to widespread snow later this week’ as UK set for heavy flurries

“We are likely to see further rain turning to snow or heavy snow in this period, but on a more widespread scale as it clashes with the somewhat cooler conditions from midweek onwards across our shores. Now this particular period has the potential to bring about a number of snow events across the country that could see parts much further south being dragged into the equation for snow too.”
The Met Office has stated “further hill snow” is probably going in northern areas as this week progresses.
