“I’ve worked in male estates and it’s very, very different here. Male prisons are categorised as A, B and C depending on how serious the crime but here they are all mixed together. So you’d have someone convicted of murder next to a prolific shoplifter. It’s a different environment. It’s a nice time at Christmas and they want to be here.

“At Christmas plenty of them have no person. Some of them have actually breached their licence on function to come back again right here to be able to have a mattress and a Christmas dinner.
