First Omaze winner bagged £1m plus property in 2020 and was left with massive payments
The first Omaze draw winner was pulled out of “limbo” following the demise of his spouse after bagging a £1million property.
Ian Garrick entered the £10 draw and was left with a life-changing win when he “shoved a tenner” on 15 entries whereas reeling from the demise of his spouse. The recent begin for the Omaze winner again in 2020 was a life-changing expertise.
But it took a while for the mega property and subsequent money to come back via for civil servant Ian, 58, who later revealed it “took ages to sell” the house as he had no intention of transferring in.

The Cheshire-based four-bedroom home was too far for the Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire native to maneuver to as he didn’t need to abandon his mates and three sons.
But it did present a lift for the person who misplaced his spouse to breast most cancers, a tragic demise which left Ian “in limbo”. He and his three sons James, 32, Callum, 24, and Nathan, 21, had been left promoting the home quickly after.
The Omaze winner, chatting with the Daily Mail on his 2020 win, stated: “I sold it as soon as I could. I didn’t want to move across the country and leave friends and family, but it did change my life as it enabled me to take early retirement from the police and lay down solid foundations for financial security for me and my sons.
“I’ve bought no ties to Cheshire, so it could be an entire upheaval, then I’d have the headache of operating a home that dimension in an space like that and not using a job, which does not actually compute financially.”
Ian’s win was not smooth sailing when it came to selling the location, which took “ages” and the variety of payments on the property proved troublesome.
He added: “It took ages to sell it, as we were still in lockdown,” he recalled. “I had to keep paying the various bills for the Cheshire house and keep an eye on it from a distance, but I never really entertained moving there.” The property bought for £1.1million in May 2021.
Although he bought the property to fund different tasks together with a renovation of his Mablethorpe dwelling, Ian says the prize draw did him and his household some good.
Speaking to The Express again in 2020, Ian stated: “I saw the draw on Facebook and I saw that it was for a cancer charity. I thought ‘Why not?’, shoved a tenner in and didn’t think any more of it.
“Since my spouse died, we have mainly been in limbo. Our home has been falling down round us. We’ve simply been making an attempt to carry one another collectively. If I’m sincere, we wanted some type of enhance to hold on.”
