Stabbing at UK buying centre leaves two males in hospital as buyers ran scared

Two males have been stabbed at a UK buying centre this night (Tuesday, January 2). 

South Yorkshire Police confirmed the 2 male victims aged 19 and 20 have been being handled for his or her accidents in hospital following the incident at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield. 

The pressure additionally stated two different males, aged 20 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of a Section 18 assault.

A police cordon was erected inside a part of the buying centre. Police stated their investigations are ongoing.

South Yorkshire Police stated in an announcement: “Officers are at the moment on the scene in Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield following stories of a stabbing.

“Two men aged 19 and 20 have been taken to hospital where they are currently receiving treatment. Two men aged 24 and 20 have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.

“A cordon stays in place inside a part of the buying centre and enquiries are ongoing.”

Speaking to Hallam FM, one shopper described how people were “working and so scared”. They said: “Everything that occurred was a blur… It was a horrible factor to see it.”

The shopper added: “It was very scary to see this taking place in a buying centre, particularly Meadowhall. I did not anticipate this to occur.

“The staff, police and security guards were absolutely brilliant. They quickly responded to the incident and moved everyone to a safer place.”
