Kevin De Bruyne met spouse when ‘fairly woman’ preferred tweet and pal ‘slid in DMs’

Kevin De Bruyne has opened up on the “embarrassing” story of how he met his spouse on Twitter.

The Manchester City star’s love life has usually been within the headlines, largely when ex-girlfriend Caroline Lijnen admitted to dishonest on him together with his Belgium team-mate Thibaut Courtois. But after splitting from her in 2013, he met the love of his life Michele Lacroix.

They’ve since married and have three youngsters collectively – sons Mason and Rome and daughter Suri. De Bruyne defined the way it all started in his first-person piece for The Players’ Tribune.

“It started with a tweet,” he started. “I only had a few thousand followers at the time, because I was still on loan at Werder Bremen. So I tweeted something about a match or whatever, and this pretty girl favourited it.

“I used to be single on the time, and my pal seen it. So he mentioned, ‘She seems like a pleasant woman, no? You ought to ship her a message’.”

The naturally shy De Bruyne tried to avoid that, responding: “No, no, no. Come on. People don’t like me. They don’t get me. She won’t respond.”

But his pal was having none of it. “So he grabbed my phone and started tapping out a message,” De Bruyne continued. “He showed me the phone and said, ‘Come on, can I hit send?’

“I used to be in all probability on the ground, cringing, however for some motive I mentioned ‘OK fantastic, ship it’. Says all of it, no? I’m presupposed to be this huge footballer, and I didn’t even have the guts to slip into my future spouse’s DMs. I didn’t dare!”

The message was sent and the rest, as they say, is history. “She modified my life in so some ways – actually, I don’t know what I’d do with out her,” concluded a healthful De Bruyne.
