‘I got here as a weightlifter, I even had a moustache that I may sometimes maintain up, which is nice.

‘It is mad because I’m trying to sort of keep them in check. Whilst also, and it’s something you don’t really see on television, you’ve got these people in these costumes and they often cannot see where they are at all.

‘They have no spatial perception at all. One character didn’t even know whether they were facing the front, the side, the back. They had no idea.

‘So I’m trying to talk to the panel, trying to get them to behave, but at the same time trying to sort of shepherd a person in a costume to the middle of the stage and often they’ll walk again to the front of the stage and I have to get them back and make sure they’re in shot and stuff like that.

‘I’m spinning a lot of plates.’

Last week noticed Alexander Armstrong unmasked as Chicken Caesar after the panellists appropriately guessed his id with the assistance of some clues.

And Pointless host Alexander, 53, admitted he was delighted to go on prime time tv ‘dressed as a cock’ after he was eradicated.

When asked about keeping it a secret, he added: ‘I’ve found keeping the secret ok. It’s made very easy for us because we all have code names. I’ve got very good at talking about the programme by its code name, so it’s been pretty good.

‘Obviously the fact is we all have to mask up as we walk around, we have to wear gloves, full visor, and everything. It just feels very Squid Game, but I don’t mind that. It adds a bit of risk.

Speaking on not knowing who his co-stars were, Alexander said: ‘I think the strangest thing of all is obviously not knowing any of the other people who are on. The only clues you get is hearing them sing. Piranha, boy oh boy, they are incredible. It’s very strange not knowing who you’re up against.
