Brit lady, 75, drowns off Costa Rica seaside

A British vacationer has tragically misplaced her life in a drowning incident in Costa Rica.

Eyewitnesses reported the girl, 76, was having fun with a swim within the sea at Montezuma seaside, Puntarenas, when a robust wave washed over her and dragged her farther from shore.

Onlookers instantly alerted the authorities who launched a search and rescue operation. 

Emergency companies combed the seaside on foot and deployed boats for an intensive search of Montezuma bay, however nonetheless couldn’t find the swimmer after half-hour.

She was ultimately found by fishermen who had responded to the misery name, hauling her aboard and transporting her to shore.

Paramedics tried to revive her, to no avail, and she or he was pronounced useless on the scene.

Paramedic Julio Benavides instructed native outlet Diario Extra: ‘We obtained a report of a water accident, particularly in Montezuma. 

‘Upon arrival, we attended to a lady round 75 years outdated mendacity on the seaside. U

‘Upon evaluation, she exhibited no important indicators, and, sadly, we needed to declare her deceased attributable to submersion.’

In 2024, the Costa Rican Red Cross reviews 4 recorded deaths attributed to aquatic accidents. 

Both the charity and the Fire Department emphasise the significance of warning when visiting seashores, rivers, lakes, and lagoons.

Reyner Sandoval from the Fire Department cautioned: ‘We wish to remind all bathers to inquire about potential risks after they go to rivers, seashores, or any aquatic environments. 

‘Seek data from locals, take note of warning indicators, and be vigilant of rip currents.’

The deceased vacationer’s physique has been transferred to the Judicial Morgue for an post-mortem.
