US cargo ship off Yemen is hit by a missile

  • It comes lower than a day after Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched an assault towards an American destroyer within the Red Sea

A US business ship has been hit by a missile off the coast of Yemen, the British army has confirmed. 

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported there had been an ‘incident’ 95 nautical miles south east of Aden. 

It comes lower than a day after Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched an assault towards an American destroyer within the Red Sea. 

The report said the port aspect of a vessel had been hit ‘from above by a missile’. It is at the moment not recognized who was behind the assault and an investigation has been launched. 

Private intelligence agency Ambrey stated a US-owned bulk provider carrying a Marshall Islands flag had been hit by the missile.
