They known as 999 and Lyme Regis coastguard, West Bay coastguard, Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat and the coastguard helicopter from St Athan in Glamorgan have been dispatched to the scene.

The ferocious sea circumstances meant it was too dangerous for the lifeboat to get to them and so it was determined to winch them off the seaside one after the other.

The helicopter crew needed to take care of the 60mph winds to hover for half-hour above the seaside to hold out the rescue.

The injured lady was placed on a stretcher and hoisted into the helicopter first, adopted by her two mates and the three canines.

The incident came about at 1.30pm yesterday.

The ladies have been flown to the automotive park at Charmouth the place they have been handed into the care of South Western Ambulance Service.

Eye-witness Rich Lisney stated: ‘From a secure vantage level I watched the coastguard helicopter winching a member of the general public onboard and in the course of the subsequent half-hour, one other two individuals.

‘It was terrifying to observe as Storm Isha winds have been gusting to 50mph or extra.

‘I used to be in awe of how steady the helicopter stored its place all through the rescue and have an excessive amount of respect for the courageous coastguard service who’re tasked with saving lives in all weathers.’

But different members of the general public criticised the canine walkers for heading out in the course of the storm.

Jackie Horsley stated: ‘Crazy being anyplace close to the seaside.

‘The storm was forecast so why endanger the lives of the coastguards?’

Alison Ward added: ‘They (the rescuers are) positively heroes. The wind grew to become so fierce so rapidly, it was scary.’

A Lyme Regis coastguard spokesperson stated: ‘The ladies have been strolling from Lyme Regis to Charmouth and so they received caught out by the tide and excessive climate.

‘The older girl had fallen and had a decrease leg damage so she was unable to maneuver.

‘With Storm Isha coming in and the fading gentle it was a race towards time.

‘The circumstances made the rescue trickier with the excessive winds throwing everybody about.

‘The injured lady was lifted in a stretcher and the entire group and their canines have been winched to security.

‘There was an Amber climate warning and there was no means they might have gotten again with the tide coming in like that.

‘I feel individuals underestimate how rapidly the tide is available in once you’ve received excessive winds.’
