‘I do know Xabi Alonso – he would 100% take Liverpool job after Jurgen Klopp exit’
Liverpool legend John Aldridge reckons Xabi Alonso would “100%” take over from Jurgen Klopp if given the chance.
Alonso has emerged because the early favorite for the soon-to-be vacant managerial position at Anfield after Klopp introduced he’d be leaving come the top of the season. The former Reds midfielder, 42, has Bayer Leverkusen prime of the Bundesliga.
Given it is his first senior place within the dugout, there’s query marks about his suitability for the position in addition to whether or not he’d need to depart. But Aldridge has no doubts in regards to the latter.

“He gets the club, he loves the club. He’s got a great feeling with the fans and it’s mutual for what he did at the club. Would he want the job? Oh yeah, I think so. 100%.
“But it’s not for me to say. He’s come out and mentioned he doesn’t have the expertise, which we all know, however Kenny Dalglish didn’t have the expertise when he took over.”
It’s believed Leverkusen will not stand in Alonso’s manner if he does need to return to Merseyside, the place he spent 5 seasons as a participant.

Reports have claimed there is a clause in his contract that enables him to affix them, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich – the three prime European sides he turned out for.
Alonso was quizzed about Klopp’s exit final week, responding: “At the moment I’m really happy here, I’m enjoying my work. Each day it’s a challenge and we are on a beautiful journey here in Leverkusen.
“To be trustworthy, I’m not in that second to consider the subsequent step. I’m desirous about the place I’m proper now.”
