Bloke fights off charging stag that ‘had sufficient of being pestered for selfie’

The incident, caught on digital camera by wildlife photographer Chris Golightly, exhibits the person attempting to thrust back the stag by grabbing its antlers however finally ends up being floored after ‘pestering’ the animal ‘for a photograph’.

“I wonder why people put themselves and the animal at risk just for a photo.
‘This poor stag had enough of being pestered and he had given warnings by lowering his antlers but people ignored it or thought he wanted to be stroked.
“He’s a wild animal, why would he desire a stroke?”
This isn’t the first time someone has learned the hard way not to get too close to wild deer. Back in November 2020, a man was attacked by a red deer stag in London’s Richmond Park after he tried to feed it.

According to the British Deer Society, deer assaults on people are uncommon as these creatures are often calm and keep away from folks. However, they will turn into aggressive when threatened or through the autumn rutting season.
Nottingham City Council said in 2022: “it’s important to be clear that it is extremely rare for a deer to approach a park visitor in this way, unprovoked and from a distance, even in the rutting season”.
