‘I did not know XL Bully I rescued was pregnant – now I’ve bought 9 banned canines’

An animal lover who rescued a younger XL Bully now faces elevating eight pups after the canine gave start to a shock litter.

The 43-year-old mum rescued the canine named Brandy in November final yr, regardless of the federal government saying a ban on the breed on October 31.

She mentioned: “We helped deliver them all ourselves and they are adorable.

“But now we are at a complete loss about what to do because we could never have them put down.”

The lady mentioned the puppies are rising quick and turning into extra boisterous and demanding by the day, including: “They are little balls of energy and fun and, like their, mum, just very friendly and loveable.

“We believe the problem around XL Bullies is not the dogs, but their owners – they are the ones who should be vetted to see if they are suitably responsible.”

The proprietor says she has no worries in regards to the Bullies being branded harmful canines, including: “Brandy is even nicer [than Honey] and we trust her completely with our children.”

But she mentioned the litter is presenting a monetary “headache” for the household due to the rising price of protecting them, together with feeding and vets payments.

The proprietor mentioned: “It is an actual fear, however I’m hoping due to our particular circumstances, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs [Defra], which administers the exemption scheme, will give us some dispensation.”

Wednesday was the last chance to register an XL Bully for an exemption allowing people to keep their pets and the woman scrambled to find almost £900 at short notice to pay for the animals‘ certificates.

“But we can’t have them put down because that would break our hearts.”
