Commander Jon Savell stated: ‘We have spent the final 24 hours meticulously following the CCTV, and it is our important working speculation that he is now gone into the water.
“We have looked at all of the available cameras and angles, and with the assistance of Transport for London and CCTV from buses that were travelling over the bridge at the relevant time and there is no sighting of him coming off the bridge.”
Commander Savell added: “When he gets to Chelsea Bridge, his demeanour appears to change. I would describe him previously as walking sort of purposefully, as if he knew where he was going and he was walking at a reasonable pace.
“As he will get onto Chelsea Bridge, he does cross the bridge greater than as soon as. And then when he will get again to the centre, he seems to be shifting from the railings again to the pavement and looking out over the sting of the railings. So a definite change in how he is been shifting about.”
Detective Superintendent Rick Sewart added said: “I’m ready to say that he is gone into the water and if he is gone into the water then that is probably the most possible consequence.”
