Kidnapped teen Alex Batty has opened up about his life again within the UK – seven years after his disappearance.
Taken on what was purported to be a week-long vacation by his mom Melanie Batty and grandfather David in 2017, Alex didn’t return to the UK till December 2023. In his six years away, Alex revealed he made a brand new buddy overseas.
Alex, who 18 turns 18 on Tuesday, was present in France six years after a vacation to Spain. And he already has plans on visiting his buddy – a Spanish woman he met in a restaurant – for a party-filled summer season, he instructed The Mirror.

He mentioned: “When we were moving around I wasn’t really aware of much in the outside world. We were in the mountains a lot, so it was hard to have internet and when we did it was usually very bad.

Alex, who was just 11 when he was taken to Marbella, Spain by his mother and grandfather, admitted he has his eye on future romance and has already enjoyed several dates. Picked up by a lorry driver and later returned to Britain, a police investigation has since been launched. Alex’s legal guardian and grandmother, Susan Caruana, say Melanie and David wanted “another way of life” for the youngster.
