Lizzy Williams, 37, and her husband, Phil 40, purchased the “ugliest home” on their street in St Albans, Hertfordshire, for £150,000 back in June 2014. They then used what they learned from the video sharing site to double its value.

The pair said the property hadn’t been lived in for four years and had holes in the ceiling and fungus growing in the downstairs toilets. They spent nine years renovating their home and saved an estimated £200k on the project after learning how to do the plumbing and electrics online.
