Tributes have poured in for a veteran BBC Radio Orkney star after he died following a ‘quick sickness’.

Posting on social media, BBC Radio Orkney stated they’re ‘grieving the sudden lack of our buddy and colleague’ and tributes to the ‘excellent broadcaster’ have poured in from followers and mates alike.
The broadcaster, described as a ‘form, beneficiant and considerate soul’, offered a variety of programmes together with Around Orkney.
The Radio station stated in an announcement on social media: ‘Everyone at BBC Radio Orkney is grieving the sudden lack of our buddy and colleague Dave Gray who died on Wednesday after a brief sickness.

‘Dave was the center and soul of the BBC in Orkney for 3 a long time and we’ll miss him terribly. Thoughts are together with his household.’
It added: ‘Everyone at BBC Radio Orkney is grieving the sudden lack of our buddy and colleague Dave Gray, who died on Wednesday following a brief sickness.
‘For three a long time Dave was the center and soul of the BBC in Orkney and we’ll miss him terribly.
‘Our ideas are together with his household and lots of mates at this most troublesome of occasions. We shall be sharing our tribute to Dave on Friday morning’s Around Orkney at 7.30am.’
Fans of the previous BBC Radio Orkney host posted on-line to ship their condolences to his family members.
One posted on social media: ‘A really uncommon man certainly – you all the time left after a yarn higher off than earlier than you’d ran into him – there’s not many folks like that round.’
