Pub’s well-known pint-guzzling pig that might headbutt punters and scoff nuts dies
A well-known piggy who beloved to hang around at a pub, munching on peanuts and sipping on leftover beer, has handed away at 14-years-old.
Frances Bacon was the star at The Conquering Hero in West Norwood, South London, the place she lived along with her house owners Ian and Victoria Taylor-Ross since 2005.
She grew to become fairly the celeb for her love of snacks like dry-roasted peanuts and crisps, and for ending off the final drops of pints.

Frances beloved to snuggle up by the fireplace and get ear scratches from the pub-goers. Sadly, after a brief sickness, the Taylors stated goodbye to their Vietnamese pot-bellied pig.
Pub boss Victoria stated: “It’s very strange to not have Frances sleeping in front of the fire. For almost 14 years we were used to her being there and greeting us early in the morning waiting for her breakfast.
“She was very a lot a part of our household and our youngsters are feeling the loss deeply. Ian, myself and our three kids have been all with Frankie when she handed, which was very peaceable and he or she knew that we have been there to consolation her.
“Frances was a big character and part of the fabric of The Conquering Hero, though we never planned for her to be a ‘pub pig’ she firmly established herself as such and we know that lots of people are missing giving her ear and belly scratches when they visit.”
The household stated they have been “relieved” she handed away peacefully and didn’t should be euthanised. Victoria added: “At the moment, there is no immediate plan underway to adopt another pet pig, it’s a little too soon.
“Frances was the second pet pig in our household and so in time, if we have been to search out the fitting piglet to suit into our household, then we would definitely think about it.”
The couple were keen to have a pig behind their bar as Ian grew up surrounded by animals in San Diego, California. Frances was fed on a strict diet of vegetables and was house trained within 48 hours of her owners getting her.
People would flock to the boozer to catch a glimpse of Frances, often bringing treats. Customers were warned to not leave pints unattended as the thirsty hog could often be found finishing them off.
A couple of years again she was banned from sipping pints after she started headbutting prospects to get to their drinks. At the time, Ian stated: “She’s lovely – definitely our favourite regular. We’ve had to bar her from having any beer though. She managed to nick a pint or two and then started butting into people. But we’re keeping a closer eye on her now and that won’t happen again.”
