United Airlines flight from UK diverted after ‘stage 3 risk’ on board
A United Airlines flight from London to Newark, United States has been diverted to Bangor, Maine resulting from “life-threatening behaviour” on board.
The flight from London to New York declared an emergency resulting from an unruly passenger on board the flight. United Airlines flight UA883 was confirmed to have diverted to Maine as an alternative of its New York vacation spot.
UA883 departed from London Heathrow at 08:18am and made the cross over the Atlantic however was stopped wanting its vacation spot after an on-board emergency was declared. A fast descent was made and a 7700 squawk code was issued by crew.
A 7700 squawk code is used to speak between the crew and air site visitors management, signalling an emergency on board the plane. When the code is delivered, air site visitors management members are positioned on standby.
Emergency crews are contacted by these controllers earlier than the arrival of the plane. The flight diversion is believed to have been resulting from an unruly flight passenger.
