British registered cargo ship sinks after Houthi assault

A British-registered freighter has sunk within the Red Sea after the crew have been compelled to desert ship following an assault by Yemeni Houti rebels. 

The Cargo ship Rubymar, which was deserted within the southern Red Sea after being focused by Yemen’s Houthis on February 18, has sunk, an announcement by the internationally recognised Yemeni authorities stated on Saturday.

The assault occurred within the Bab al-Mandab Strait, 35 nautical miles south of Al Mukha, Yemen, on Sunday evening, the UK’s Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) stated, towards a vessel that was later recognized because the Rubymar.

The crew of the British-registered cargo ship, which is available in at 171.6m lengthy and 27m huge, was compelled to ‘abandon the vessel’ following the assault, although the UKMTO stated yesterday that each one crew are secure and ‘authorities are investigating.’
