Devon and Cornwall police posted a photograph of the car on X, previously Twitter.

The Golf was later seized and impounded.

Devon and Cornwall Police posted: ‘Driver discovered to be disqualified, constructive roadside check for cocaine, uninsured and the car expired MOT and VEL (car excise licence) – aside from that…! Seized and driver arrested.’

On social media, Barry Lewis stated: ‘Words fail me – fool’s automotive may have fallen to bits and killed somebody.’
