‘Professional’ £50 cake lined in canine hair regarded prefer it was ‘made by a baby’

A girl was left upset after a £50 birthday cake she ordered regarded prefer it had been “made by a child”.

Sam Faulkner, from Calcot, Reading, wished to make her brother Graham’s thirtieth birthday particular. She noticed a fishing-themed cake on Pinterest that she thought her brother, who loves fishing, would love.

She contacted a cake maker named “Emma Beth Mh” on Facebook, an account which has since been deleted, The Mirror reported. But when the cake arrived, Sam was shocked because it did not look something like the image and was lined in canine hairs.

Her mum, Sue Faulkner, shared their disappointment on the Earley Residents Discussion Group Facebook web page, asking: “Cake on left was what was ordered but cake on right was was we got! Trading standards? “. Other skilled cake makers supplied their assist and recommendation.

Mrs Faulkner mentioned: “My daughter was distraught at when she opened the box. It was nothing like the picture. She’d paid half the money for the cake to this woman and what came back looked like it was made by a child. Honestly, it was laughably bad.”

“The name Graham didn’t even have a capital letter, it was that bad. I was very cross, so I said ‘I’m putting it on Facebook ‘. Once I did that, it became clear there were other people who had encountered her as well. I tried to contact her and she blocked me straight away and deleted the page.”

The “Emma Beth Mh” Facebook web page was swiftly taken down. Mrs Faulkner added: “I’m going to Trading Standards as she’s clearly not a proper cake maker. We’re now able to see the funny side of it afterwards, but at the time we were very upset.

“Even although we had fun about it, I nonetheless need to warn individuals this pretend cake maker is on the market producing these monstrosities and charging individuals for these horrible makes an attempt at desserts.”

Sue also mentioned how difficult it was getting her cash back from the baker. But they finally received £15 back, though she feels it’s “about nearly as good as we’ll get”. The cake maker is believed to reside in Reading and upon investigation, Reading Borough Council confirmed receiving complaints. The council stated its Environmental Health team is looking into it.
