Three injured at UK college as teen arrested on suspicion of tried homicide

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of tried homicide after three folks, together with a toddler, have been injured at a secondary college in Sheffield, police stated.

South Yorkshire Police stated the incident concerned a pointy object. The pressure added that incident occurred at The Birley Academy in Sheffield on Wednesday morning (May 1) at round at 8.50am.

It comes lower than 24 hours after the college welcomed a brand new head instructor on X, saying that Mrs Victoria Hall would lead the academy on an “exciting journey of growth and excellence.”

The police assertion added: “Officers are on the scene after responding to reviews of an incident involving a pointy object on the college on Birley Lane at round 8.50am.

“Two adults were checked over at the scene after suffering minor injuries. A child was also checked over after being assaulted.

“A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of tried homicide and stays in police custody.”

The school has been placed on lockdown, and officers are expected to remain there and surrounding area throughout the day.

The school said in an update at 10am that all students and staff are “secure”.

They wrote on social media: “This morning we went into lockdown as a precaution following an incident on the college. This was not a choice taken calmly however the security of scholars and workers is paramount.

“All students and staff are safe. We are working closely with the police and will update shortly.”

The college had earlier introduced the tenure of a brand new head instructor, Mrs Victoria Hall.
