Bloke factors out ‘insane’ value of beans – however will get livid response

Many Brits have been shocked by how much their food shop has gone up recently.

And one bloke went online to moan about the price of beans this week. However, we’re guessing he wish he never did – as he’s now facing backlash himself after the post went viral.

The man, named Dan, took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam the ‘insane’ price of Heinz Beans with Pork Sausages, which he found on sale in a Sainsbury’s Local shop for £2.10.

However, Dan ended up getting slated himself in the replies, as many said they had ‘no reason to be cheap’ and that he ‘didn’t have to buy them’.

Dan’s original post saw him post a photo of the beans on the shelf above the £2.10 price tag as he wrote: “Before I get 1,000 identical replies of “just go to Aldi you f***ing dip***,” or “well what do you expect from luxury delicacies,” I am not buying these and simply observing that, £2.10 is an insane price for a tin of beans and sausages.”

One person wrote back: “Then don’t buy Heinz?? Tesco or Stockwell are a quarter the price (and also taste better in my opinion).” Dan hit back: “a) i didn’t buy them, b) neither of those were there.”

Another responder told him that “nobody buys those”, however, Dan retorted by saying: “I’m guessing someone does, given they’re allotted a significant amount of shelf space in a small supermarket?”

Someone else wrote: “I’m getting a bit tired of folk going in to expensive food outlets and then posting (shock horror) how expensive the food is in them.” Dan replied: “Come on man, this wasn’t Harrods Foodhall.”

He ended up getting backlash over his post

While another person asked Dan if he ‘voted for Brexit’, which he told them he didn’t.

Defending the price, someone else wrote: “Is it though? Someone grows the haricot beans and wants to make a profit. Someone supplies the other crap they put in there and wants to make a profit. Heinz then puts their label on it for more than they’ve paid all those people. Then the shop has to sell it at a profit.” Dan simply replied: “Yes it is.”

Another also asked: “Why should it be cheap? What about the farmers who produce the ingredients? Many of us seem to be happy paying £50+ pcm for an iToy or £40,000 for a new car, but shout murder when milk prices go up.” Dan hit back: “A tin of beans and sausages should not be priced at £2.10.”

Summing up the backlash, Dan told his followers: “I mean I knew this was 100% inevitable but it’s still amazing that you can post something like, ‘Wow this is expensive’ and then two hours later there’s like 50 weird guys trying to fight you over beans.”

Many stuck up for him though, as one person wrote: “The amount of grief in response to this tweet… Hope you’re okay Dan.”

While another added: “Oh God Dan, what’s going on with all the weirdos on this one?,” to which he replied: “It’s absolutely wild.”

We bet he wishes he’d never spilled the beans in the first place now!
