Drunk Jamie Carragher slurs phrases in Jadon Sancho interview after ‘eight pints’
Jamie Carragher clearly enjoyed his time in the Yellow Wall as he reemerged on CBS eight pints deep on Wednesday evening.
Carragher, 46, was given the full Westfalenstadion experience as Borussia Dortmund welcomed PSG for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. The Liverpudlian’s evening started outside the stadium, where he posed for photos with fans while reporting.
He joked he felt like one of The Beatles before a beer was thrust in his direction. Carragher yelped with joy as he took a big swig to the delight of the Dortmund fans who had gathered around the Liverpool cult hero.

Niclas Fullkrug netted the only goal of the game, when he took down a long ball, allowing time to set himself, and blasting it past Gianluigi Donnarumma. Carragher had watched the goal from Dortmund’s famous Yellow Wall, with videos appearing on social media of him bouncing up and down.
By the time the full-time whistle came, it was clear the beer before kick-off wasn’t the only beverage he had enjoyed.

“Are you sober enough to do this, Jamie,” Kate Abdo asked Carragher when he appeared on screen alongside Peter Schmeichel with a microphone in hand.
He joked: “That’s a good point, because I had a cheeseburger at half past two in the afternoon and not much else to eat. That may explain why I’m slurring my words, because afterwards I had about eight beers in the Yellow Wall!”
Carragher then flagged down Jadon Sancho, who had looked a transformed man from his time at Manchester United. And the Dortmund star looked shocked when Carragher placed his arm him – to the delight of Micah Richards in the CBS Studio.
“Jadon, if you go to the Champions League final, we’ll have a few beers together,” Carragher joked as Thierry Henry tried to ask Sancho about the game.
The studio continued to break down the game when they cut back to Schmeichel, and there was one notable absence. And Richards was quick to notice, joking: “Peter, in all seriousness, where’s Jamie?”
“In all seriousness,” Schmeichel responded, “he’s in the sin bin.” Carragher then appeared in front of the camera, interrupting Abdo as she asked if he had been escorted out.
Dortmund hold a 1-0 lead heading into next week’s second leg that will see them travel to the French capital. The German side are looking to reach their first Champions League final since the 2012/13 season, which was also held at Wembley.
On that occasion they faced rivals Bayern Munich in the final – and history could repeat itself with the Bavarian giants playing in the other semi-final against Real Madrid. Perhaps Carragher will have sobered up by then!
