Richard Keys lashes out at Jamie Carragher for Liverpool legend’s ‘drunk’ clip
Richard Keys lashed out at Jamie Carragher for his boozy shift in Borussia Dortmund’s iconic ‘Yellow Wall’ at the Westfalenstadion.
Usually when the Champions League comes round, Carragher, 46, can be found in the CBS Sport Golazo studio with Kate Abdo, Micah Richards, Thierry Henry and co. On this occasion, the Liverpool legend lived the dream of most European football fans, as he reported on Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain from the Bundesliga giants’ iconic South Stand.
Before the game, Carragher slurped beer and munched on bratwursts with excited Dortmund fans and finished his evening with an entertaining interview with Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho. But while most fans were entertained by Carragher, who looked a little worse for wear towards the end of the night, Keys was anything but amused.

The now BeIN Sports host and commentator took to social media to criticise and moan about Carragher’s antics. He wrote: “Drunk on air = hilarious? I don’t think so.
“Ask families who’re cursed with relations who are damned by the illness that is alcoholism if they think this kind of behaviour is ‘hilarious’.” Many thought Carragher sounded like he was slurring his words towards the end of the night.

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero filled in for the former defender, who looked like he was on a classic football city mini-break. Carragher’s coverage began with him reporting on site amongst the Dortmund fans, who sang, took selfies, and even gave him a pint and a hot dog.
He was then seen jumping like a kangaroo amongst the Dortmund fans during the match. Perhaps through slightly blurred, yellow vision, Carragher would have seen Edin Terzic’s side secure a deserved 1-0 first-leg victory over the Parisian giants.
Niclas Fullkrug’s first-half goal gave Dortmund the advantage over Luis Enrique’s side. Carragher will likely be back in the studio for the second-leg, which will take place on Tuesday May 7.
Dortmund have not reached the Champions League final since their heart-breaking defeat to Bayern Munich at Wembley Stadium, all the way back in 2013. Ironically, with Thomas Tuchel’s side taking a 2-2 score-line to the Bernabeu against Real Madrid, an all-German final at the home of English football could be on the cards for the second time in 11 years.
