Nottingham Forest duo charged by FA for fuming feedback after Everton VAR drama

Nottingham Forest have been charged by the FA for comments made in the wake of their defeat at Everton.

Nuno Espirito Santo and defender Neco Williams have also been charged with misconduct following their comments about the match officials for April’s Premier League match at Goodison Park.

An FA statement read: “Nottingham Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo and Neco Williams have been charged with misconduct in relation to comments that they made after their Premier League game against Everton on Sunday 21 April.

“It’s alleged that the club, manager and player’s comments constitute improper conduct in that they imply bias and/or question the integrity of the match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute.”

Forest, who had three penalty appeals turned down in their 2-0 loss at Goodison, first issued a club statement minutes after the final whistle, in which they said they had “warned” referees’ chief Howard Webb that VAR Stuart Attwell “is a Luton fan”.

The club posted: “Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept.

“We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game, but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.”
