Prince Harry dealt contemporary blow forward of solo UK go to for Invictus Games

Prince Harry has been dealt a fresh blow ahead of his visit to the UK next week.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to have to stay in a hotel when he makes his solo trip across the pond to celebrate 10 years of the Invictus Games, a sporting event for war veterans. Harry founded the event in 2014, six years before he moved to the US with wife Meghan Markle.

However, while Harry was still a working royal when he launched the games, no senior members of the Firm are expected to turn out to the celebration. The Duke also does not have a UK home after he and Meghan were evicted from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles last year, reports The Mirror.

Harry has not stayed at a royal residence since and, according to reports, will have to sort his own accommodation in London during his upcoming trip. Harry had his request to stay at Windsor Castle in September 2023 denied after the Royal Family claimed they had not been given enough notice of his visit.

Meghan will remain Stateside while Harry jets across the Atlantic to prepare for the couple’s visit to Nigeria just days after the Invictus event. One royal expert claimed Meghan’s absence at the event will likely leave Harry feeling “so lonely”.

Speaking to GB News, Charlotte Griffiths of the Mail on Sunday said the Duke would have “loved” to have his wife and children family with him at the event – especially since the celebration will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral, where his dad and late mum, Princess Diana, tied the knot.

“It’s a really important part of Harry’s soul, and the kind of thing he’d want his wife, maybe even his kids by his side for,” she said.

“Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he’s going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well.”
