World Snooker Championship star says ‘there’s not a lot to see’ when flies undone

David Gilbert had fans in stitches on Friday evening when he was caught flying low at the World Snooker Championship.

Gilbert, 42, was trailing Kyrie Wilson in the semi-finals of Friday’s evening session at the Crucible when he noticed his flies was undone. The Englishman quickly adjusted as he looked to line-up his shot.

However, his actions didn’t go undetected to the fans, with some of the audience letting out a small chuckle as he adjusted. Gilbert heard the chuckles, and before taking his shot he hit back at the fans with a cheeky quip: “There ain’t much to see anyway!”

David Gilbert has the Crucible in stitches with his response

The World No.31 has had a tournament from his wildest dreams, beating Stephen Maguire in the quarter-final. And it was quite the journey to even make it to the final eight, beating defending champion Luca Brecel in round one.

Brecel admitted he’d been up against in the first round while battling an illness. He admitted: “I’ve lost my voice a couple of times and I’ve had headaches, a bit like Covid.”

Gilbert saw Wilson pull away from him as the night wore on, with The Warrior winning five frames on the bounce. But The Angry Farmer claimed the final of the session, finishing with a century to end 10-14 behind ahead of returning tomorrow.
