Britain’s heaviest man dies earlier than thirty fourth birthday as reason behind demise shared by mum
Britain’s heaviest man has died of organ failure and obesity, it has been revealed.
Jason Holton passed away just a week before his 34th birthday at the Royal Surrey County Hospital last Saturday (April 27). Jason, who weighed an estimated 50 stone, couldn’t be saved despite doctors’ best efforts.
Mum Leisa, 55, kept vigil by his bedside following the sad news. “He’s probably had about eight lives and I thought the doctors would be able to save him again, but sadly it wasn’t possible,” she said.

“He was put on kidney dialysis and an IV drip but his kidneys weren’t working. The doctor told Jason he’d pass away within a week as his organs were failing.
“Jason soon started to go downhill.”
The coroner’s report stated Jason died of organ failure and obesity.
Jason began overeating as a teenager following the death of his dad. He became Britain’s heaviest person in 2015 after the previous title-holder, 65st Carl Thompson, died in 2015.
In 2020 Jason had to be hoisted from his flat by a crane to be taken to hospital as his organs started to shut down. He was hoping to be given the weight loss jab Wegovy to treat his health issues.
He previously suffered a medical episode that saw his entire body swell up due to a suspected blood clot and internal organ failure. Doctors had to contemplate sending him to the zoo for an X-ray with a machine normally used to examine zebras as he could not fit in the hospital scanner, the Daily Star previously reported.
Speaking to The Sun at the time, he said: “My mum was convinced I’d suffered a mini heart attack and my doctor looked shocked when he saw the state of me – he was amazed I was still alive.
“At one point they were talking about taking me to London Zoo to have my heart and lungs examined with equipment they normally use on large animals like zebras.
“They said that was the only way they could properly X-ray my heart. My doctor was convinced this was the best thing for me, but they decided against it in the end, I’m not sure why – I think it was because of the cost.”
By the time he died Jason could no longer walk. He lived in bed in a bungalow in Hampshire.
