Charles Bronson lined physique in butter, attacked officers then blamed Arsenal
Trust me when I say that it is not easy supporting Tottenham Hotspur – but don’t take my word for it, just ask the ‘most violent prisoner in Britain’.
Charles Bronson is probably still reeling about his beloved Spurs losing the North London Derby. But thankfully, there have been no reports of him causing havoc as a result.
This was not the case a decade ago though. It’s the 10-year anniversary of Arsenal scoring an extra-time winner against Hull City to lift the FA Cup in a 3-2 classic.
Bronson wasn’t happy with the result – and violently reacted to the Gunners lifting what was their first piece of silverware in 3,283 days.

Bronson was first jailed for armed robbery in 1974 when he was 22 – one year after Spurs won the Football League Cup – and he has spent decades in solitary confinement since then.
But in May 2014, while at Full Sutton jail in York, he flew into a rage over a football result and covered himself in butter before attacking 12 prison officers.
He went on the rampage after the final whistle blew in the FA Cup final – something he revealed in a letter to Ronnie Kray’s ex-wife, Kate, who later shared it with the Daily Mirror.
Bronson said he had visions of East End gangster Ronnie after Arsenal’s victory sent him into a fury – which resulted in him having his ribs broken. Writing to Kate Kray, he said: “Not good news. I’ve had another rumble. This time with a dozen riot mob on the yard!
“Obviously I had my reasons and I’d sooner swallow teeth than my pride. Sadly I came off worst – got smashed up ribs. Life goes on Kate! You won’t hear me moan!
“It was sunny! A scorcher! Arsenal was playing Hull. I so wanted Hull to win, coz I’m Spurs. I got Lurpak and spread it on thick. Then a small cloud appeared. I swear I see Ron’s face. Go on son, let ‘em have it!”
He added: “I know the mind plays games in moments of mad events but it is still a comforting thought Ron’s still around. Made me feel happy. Safe! Double up for it!”
Bronson has now spent more than 50 years in prisons and he is currently being held at Category A HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes.
The lag, infamous for violence and hostage-taking, lost a parole bid last year but he is remaining hopeful that he will one day taste freedom.
He changed his name to Charles Salvador in 2014 and speaking to the Daily Mail about his hypothetical release, he said: “I would like to go into a greasy spoon and order the biggest fry up on the planet. I [want] to go to a wood and hug a tree.
“Enjoy the little things in life. Go to a fish and chip shop and order fish and chips. Sit on a bench to eat it, whilst watching the world go by.
“My dreams are so simple and easy. I just want peace and quiet, and sit down and create my art.” He added: “I dream of the outside world and want to enjoy what is left of my life.”
Although Bronson claims to be a changed man who now wants peace, we still wouldn’t fancy being in the same room as him if Arsenal win the Premier League this month…
