‘I attempted having intercourse 7 weeks after labour – I believed I’d be prepared however I wasn’t

Sex can change a lot throughout your life.

There’s stress, pregnancy and so many factors which could evolve your sessions in the bedroom. But it becomes a totally different ballgame after giving birth.

She welcomed her daughter Auraelia – or Rae – in 2021 with her now-husband Mathew Lewis-Carter. The couple had to change their wedding date three times during Covid.

Then somewhere in-between those dates, their daughter was born via C-section. Now years on, Chessie revealed the reality of getting back into the sack with her man.

In the post, she wrote: “What’s the worst thing you’ve said to your partner when you’ve not wanted sex? Even if it is only two minutes out of your day?!

“On the day of my caesarean, before we’d even met Auraelia, a lovely midwife asked us what contraception we were planning to use when we got back home.

“I also told Mat when she left they also ask what position we conceived her in as that determined which way round she was so they knew before operating.

“Sex was genuinely number 123 on my list of 124 things in the first 2 months. I couldn’t even change my own giant pillow pads in my pants myself let alone contort my body into any page of the Kama Sutra.”

Chessie told how the couple tried at 7 weeks and the day after she got the sign off, she thought it was time. But she couldn’t be more wrong.

She added: “I thought I was ready but I was absolutely not. There’s nothing more sexy than hearing ‘I can’t do it, you feel like a cheese grate inside of me’.

“We tried again at 10 weeks and Hugo [the dog, not housemate] decided to take a front row seat watching in awe/horror and Rae woke up two minutes in.

“Third time lucky, at 11 weeks, we finally managed something that felt as close to sex as possible. Laughing really helps, talking to each other throughout helps.

“Pretending it’s the first time you’ve ever had sex with each other ever helps. Lube really helps. Silky soft ultra thin condoms help.

“Experimenting with basic positions then levelling up to spicy ones when you’re ready helps and time really really helps.”
