Jadon Sancho ‘does not need to return’ to Man Utd – even when Erik ten Hag is axed
Jadon Sancho is dead set on leaving Manchester United this summer, even if Erik ten Hag gets sacked.
The England star, 24, has looked a new man since joining former club Dortmund on loan in January, having been all but kicked out of United’s first team squad following a furious bust-up with Ten Hag last year. He’s scored three times in 17 games so far and has helped fire Edin Terzic’s men to the brink of the Champions League final.
Sancho is due to return to Old Trafford at the end of the campaign and will be expected to report for pre-season training in July, but according to Sky Germany, the forward is determined to stay put at the Westfalenstadion.

His United contract doesn’t expire until 2026, but this could play into Sancho’s hands by forcing United to sell him this summer in order to avoid letting him enter the final year of his deal and leave for a cut-price.
Formal talks between the two clubs are expected to begin in the coming weeks, with Dortmund keen to tie Sancho down to a permanent deal. Much will depend, however, on the future of Ten Hag, who has been under pressure at Old Trafford for some time.

Should United part ways with the Dutchman, his replacement may want Sancho to be reintegrated into the squad. However, it’s understood the former Manchester City youth star has no intention of returning to the Premier League club irrespective of who’s in charge of the first team.
Sancho made his name at Dortmund after joining the Bundesliga giants as a teenager from Man City in 2017. He went on to play 137 times for the club, scoring 50 goals, and was part of their DFB-Pokal-winning side in 2021.
That summer he returned to England, signing for Man Utd for £73million. But in the three seasons since he’s failed to live up to expectations, having scored just 12 times in 82 games.
