Now drivers are being warned of a little-known restriction known as Rule 114.
It states: “You must not use any lights in a way which would dazzle or cause discomfort to other road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.”
The experts at Compare The Market revealed how misusing your full-beam headlights can seriously annoy other road users or even mess with their sight.
If you’re caught breaking it, you could be hit with an unlimited fine and rack up to nine penalty points on your licence, reports the Express.

Police have the power to make you take an eyesight test right there by the roadside. Another little-known motoring law Brits should be aware of includes using a drive-thru.
With the rise of smartphones and contactless systems, most people would use a device to make a payment nowadays. And that’s where you could get into trouble.
In recent years, laws have been updated to reflect advancing technology which means it’s legal to use your phone to pay at the wheel.
But motorists could still land themselves into hot water when using their phone for something else. Anyone caught could face a fine of up to £200 and six penalty points.
