Man discovered nailed to a fence by his palms in sick public automobile park assault

A man was found brutally nailed to a fence in a car park in Northern Ireland early today (May 5).

Police were called to the appalling scene in Bushmills, County Antrim, just after midnight, and they found the bloke with nails in both his hands. The man in his 20s had also suffered injuries to his nose, cops said.

He’s now in hospital, although his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The fire brigade was also called to the public car park, near Dundarave Park, because two vans – one belonging to the victim – had been set alight. Both were badly damaged.

The motive for the horrific crime has not been publicly disclosed, but cops said graffiti sprayed on the wall of some public bogs nearby was being linked to the assault and the arson.

“This was a sinister attack which has left this man with potentially life-changing injuries,” said Det Insp Lyttle.

“Everyone has the right to live their life free from the threat of violence and this brutal attack by people who violate the human rights of others must be universally condemned.

“We live in a democratic society where there is no justification for this. Those responsible brutalise their own communities and control others through intimidation and violence.”

Det Insp Lyttle added: “This happened in a residential area with a number of holiday lets which would be busy during this bank holiday weekend and we are asking anyone who noticed anything or who may have dash cam footage to contact us urgently on 101 or confidently to Crimestoppers.”
