Bloke ‘chases cops down road with chainsaw’ after Bank Holiday automobile crash
A man was arrested after allegedly “chasing” a police officer with a chainsaw just moments after a car crash.
The chaotic scene was filmed and posted on social media after officers eventually arrested the man on Glasgow Road in Paisley, Scotland. In a short clip, a police officer is seen legging it away from a man who appears to be carrying the power tool.
The foot chase happened in middle of a busy road, and appears to have been sparked after a collision between a car and a stationary police vehicle. Footage of the incident was widely shared on social media.

A later clip shows what appears to be around 20 officers – plain-clothed and uniformed – and members of the public jumping on the man while officers arrest him. At some point during the chaos, two police officers were injured and were later treated by paramedics.
The extent of their injuries are as yet unknown, however a spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Around 1pm on Monday, 6 May, 2024, a disturbance involving a weapon occurred following a collision involving a car and a stationary police vehicle on Glasgow Road in Paisley. Two officers were injured and were treated by paramedics.
“A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. There is no wider risk to the public and officers remain at the scene while enquires are ongoing. Glasgow Road is closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use an alternative route.”
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and locals are being told to avoid the areas in question, with several diversions still in place.
