King will ‘attain out’ to grandson Archie on his birthday, royal knowledgeable claims

King Charles is planning to “reach out” to his grandson Prince Archie on his fifth birthday, an expert has claimed.

Archie’s dad, Prince Harry is set to make another appearance at the Invictus Games – although his wife Meghan Markle is not going to accompany him, reportedly prompting “a huge sigh of relief from Kensington Palace”. Harry is due in St Paul’s cathedral on Wednesday (May 8)but first is celebrating his little lad’s birthday today (May 6) in the state.

Royal expert Tom Quinn claimed that the King is desparate to strike up a relationship with the children of his youngest son, but added that Charles wasn’t particularly comfortable with “new technology” and so didn’t like using video calls.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “King Charles dislikes new technology, but is desperate to keep in touch with his grandchildren on the other side of the Atlantic so he will certainly call Harry and wish Archie Happy Birthday.”

He added: “Charles [has] been asking about video calling, but according to his aides, he’s uncomfortable with the idea. If he makes an ordinary telephone call to Harry it means he can have a quick word with Archie without the need to talk to Meghan, a prospect that fills him with dread.”

It is understood that Harry is “very keen” to see his father on his upcoming UK trip, with a source telling the Sun: “It’s clear he is keen to see his father as he continues his recovery and most people expect another reunion of some kind next week”.

Quinn told the same outlet: “The shock of Kate’s recent cancer diagnosis provides one possible route through all the difficulties surrounding these family meetings. If anything will make Harry behave as he used to behave before his marriage it will be the shock of potentially losing someone he once described as ‘the sister he always wanted’.”

Mr Quinn reckons that aids will be pleased about the news Meghan won’t be in attendance in London: “At Kensington Palace there was a huge sigh of relief when it was confirmed that Meghan would not be accompanying her husband to the UK”.
