Met Gala 2024: Best dressed on the purple carpet
Jennifer Lopez kicked off the red carpet in style for the 2024 Met Gala on Monday in New York City, dazzling in a sparkling see-through bejeweled ensemble.
The 54-year-old singer and actress, who is a co-chair for this year’s event, posed up a storm in her silver strapless gown with a neckline featuring a wing-style design, adding a statement diamond necklace – as she headed toward the famous steps.
The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition falls on the first Monday in May every year and is held at New York City‘s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This year the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while the dress code is The Garden of Time.

Ashley Graham dazzled in a busty black sequin gown with floral accents along her waist.
Ashley’s gown featured a vine of flowers along her waist front and back with pale pink flowers; the rest of the gown was jet black sequins with a halter corset and sleeve accents.
The cover girl styled her hair with very short bangs and the rest of her brunette locks pulled back.
La La Anthony wore an interesting outfit – which consisted of a mermaid style black and red dress with a closeup of a rose at the bottom half, with lace on her torso and arms. She held a single white pearly rose in her hands
Gwendoline Christie chose a red and black gown as well – which consisted of a black sheer lace cap and a velvet red frock, adding a dramatic hairstyle.
Chris Hemsworth, who is a co-chair for this year’s Met Gala, arrived early with his wife Elsa Pataky; Chris donned a cream suit while Elsa stood out in a gold ensemble.

Also on the committee is Vogue’s Anna Wintour.The honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
‘This year’s co-chairs reflect a variety of career achievements, and all have distinct style histories with the Met Gala,’ Vogue shared.
The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection – with many of the pieces too fragile to ever be worn again.
The pieces will all be displayed using elements such as AI, GCI, and more while playing up themes of land, sea, and sky.

‘It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,’ said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, of the upcoming exhibition.
‘One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.’
Guests expected to attend include the Kardashians, Blake Lively, Hailey Bieber, Sarah Jessica Parker and Timothee Chalamet.
Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham are hosting while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain is expected to interview stars on the red carpet.
Last year’s gala honored late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
