UK’s heaviest bloke may be too large for correct funeral due to his 50st body

The mother of Britain’s heaviest man who recently passed away is struggling to find somewhere capable of cremating his large frame.

Jason Holton passed away just a week before his 34th birthday at the Royal Surrey County Hospital on April 27. Jason, who weighed an estimated 50 stone, couldn’t be saved despite doctors’ best efforts.

Mum Leisa, 55, has now revealed that he might not even get a proper send off because of his size. She told The Sun: “Jason wanted to be cremated but there are concerns he might be too wide for the chamber.

“If he has to be buried, it is going to cost a lot of money that I haven’t got — he would need a double plot instead of a single.

“We need to give him a proper send off. I miss him a hell of a lot. I loved him very much.”

The young man’s cause of death was revealed as organ failure and obesity.

Leisa added: “I’ve had a friend calling funeral homes and one asked for Jason’s dimensions.

“His weight isn’t the concern, it’s just that he might be too wide. I am not sure he will fit into a hearse.

“One funeral firm says they will provide a larger, rectangular coffin for him and think they have figured out how they will transport him.”

Jason began overeating as a teenager following the death of his dad. He became Britain’s heaviest person in 2015 after the previous title-holder, 65st Carl Thompson, died in 2015.

In 2020 Jason had to be hoisted from his flat by a crane to be taken to hospital as his organs started to shut down. He was hoping to be given the weight loss jab Wegovy to treat his health issues.

He previously suffered a medical episode that saw his entire body swell up due to a suspected blood clot and internal organ failure.

Doctors had to contemplate sending him to the zoo for an X-ray with a machine normally used to examine zebras as he could not fit in the hospital scanner, the Daily Star previously reported.
